Callan Co-op Homevalue Launch

Callan Co-op officially launched its new Homevalue store on West Street, Callan after 9 months of renovations and building works.  A full schedule of celebrations was held for both customers and shareholders. The official launch was on Friday, March 30th followed by a customer day on Saturday 1st April full of events for all of the family with loads of special offers and giveaways in-store. 

On Friday 31st Agri experts from Biocel, Norbrook, IAS Laboratories, Philmatic and many more were in the store with lots of special offers on the day.  There were lots of giveaways in-store and refreshments served as they celebrate the new store launch with the ribbon cutting and official event for the board, invited guests and shareholders.

The store was buzzing with activity including KCLR’s Edward Hayden broadcasting live on Saturday 1st April. Throughout the day there were live demonstrations by Crown Paint and a great opportunity to get a picture with the Dulux Dog.  Children enjoyed face painting and balloons, while our customers were treated to free consultations from RTE’s Super Garden Finalist Aimee Moore who was onsite to advise on all of your gardening designs. Customers were invited to come in and meet the Kilkenny Camogie team or just enjoy a customer BBQ from 12-3. It truly was an exciting weekend with a huge range of special offers throughout the store giving customers the chance to Spin & Win some amazing prizes.

Not just for farmers

Callan Co-op prides itself on its knowledge of the local area; its customers; the products which are offered; and the challenges facing the farming community.

When the store on West Street first opened in 2005, the product range consisted of predominantly Agri related items. However, Callan Co-op Homevalue has substantially expanded and diversified the range, now supplying a wide range of products for homes, gardens and the DIY enthusiast.  

James Fitzgerald, General Manager said “This co-op was set up by farmers for farmers over 120 years ago. Since then, it’s come a long way, it’s no longer a store just for farmers. We now cater for any home, DIY, and agricultural needs of a much wider area. However, without our loyal farming customers, we wouldn’t have achieved what you see here today and we are keen to acknowledge how valuable their support is.”

What’s new?

Customers can expect to find top-quality Canadian flooring, expanded paint supplies featuring Crown, Deluxe, and Fleetwood, and a range of garden furniture, accessories, footwear, and protective clothing. The store also offers a full range of animal feeds, equine products, fencing supplies, hardware, fuel products, gardening/landscape supplies, pet and bird food, and accessories. With the new look store and expanded product selection Callan Co-Op offer bigger, better and more competitively priced products. 

A big investment into Callan

The new premises has doubled the building in size, and every part of the existing building has been renovated expanded and refurbished. The new look Co-Op now stands on 10,000 square feet, giving plenty of room to stroll and browse while you shop. With 40 free car park spaces on site, it is conveniently located just off the main Callan Kilkenny ring road.

Launch of Homevalue Hardware
Callan Co-op, Home-Agri-DIY are excited to announce that they are now part of the Homevalue Hardware Group.  This collaboration is an ideal fit for Callan as this retains the large product range and retains its price competitiveness.

There are 90 Homevalue stores nationwide, with Callan Co-op only one of four to open up in Kilkenny. Make sure to check out the several promotions in-store that Homevalue Hardware will be running with Callan Co-Op, it will be well worth your while. Homevalue stores offer a range of products including building materials, DIY tools, paint, plumbing supplies, electrical goods, garden equipment, pet supplies, and more. Flooring & Paint
Wooden flooring is completely new to Callan Co-op Homevalue. They are now stocking Irish-brand – Canadian flooring with a large selection and an impressive display that can be ordered. They have also expanded their paint section, with the addition of Dulux and Fleetwood paints to their already extensive selection of Crown paint.  Callan Co-op Homevalue also has a wide range of accessories such as paint brushes and rollers. Siobhan Mason joined Callan Co-op as the Retail Operations Manager ten months ago, in the middle of the big redevelopment.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. “We had a very compact shop floor, which has now doubled to an extensive floor space. Customers are loving the opportunity to browse around now, and we are delighted to see the big mix of customers come in too,  from all around Kilkenny. We are here to serve all the community of Callan and hinterlands.”

“Now we have more room to designate to different suppliers and products. For example, when I started working here, fencing only had two little sections for five suppliers, now we have a larger section for each supplier individually.

Callan Co-op has a proud reputation for providing Agri products
The store provides a full range of animal feeds for cows, beef, sheep, and poultry supplied with a bulk feed delivery service; a full range of equine products including feed from Red Mills, and veterinary supplies. A full range of chemicals; dairy detergents and milk socks, and fencing supplies including gates.

We have increased our feed and fertiliser storage facilities. The concrete surfacing of the entire yard has resulted in a cleaner environment for us to run our business and increased our storage area. This weekend we welcome the official opening of our extension and renovation of our retail store and offices.”

Callan Co-Op regularly supports their community in more than one way. They are proud supporters of Callan’s John Lockes GAA Club, Dunnamaggin Ladies Football, and Callan Feile. Together with a rich history of supporting many community initiatives since it was formed in 1899.
